The Fischer family on
Riepen Manor
Even in 1818 the family von Geismar was mentioned to be
resident at Riepen Manor, but during the 19th century their traces in Doessel
are lost. The second family with formative influence on Riepen Manor was
the family Fischer.

about the turn of the century
The family Fischer was resident in Warburg since the 17th
century. In 1821 Viktoria Fischer married the French Pierre Charvin who
later came to prosperity. As a widow Viktoria Charvin born Fischer donated
considerable amounts of money for social and religious purposes. In 1861
she donated a new organ for the New Town parish church so that the old
one could be given to the new built Doessel church. Her brother Robert
purchased the manors Menne and Riepen. His Paris born son Heinrich (1865
- 1917) took over Riepen manor in 1891. In 1896 he erected an impressive
extension to the 1667 built mansion-house. Together with his wife Lilly
born Ritgen from Wormeln abbey manor he resumed the donating tradition
of family Fischer. Among other things were the donation of new church windows
and the renovation of the wayside shrines on the north and south entry
to the village.

the head of Rieoen manor. She continued agriculture and attended to horsebreeding.
During the twenties she got involved in the „Rural women movement“ and
after the foundation of the „Westphalian rural women union“ she became
the first chairwoman from 1929 until their dissolution in 1933.
Today Riepen manor is run by Manfred Fischer.
